Nesta Connect Limited ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Ijego ride-hailing platform, including the Ijego Rider mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our services.

By using Ijego, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Identity information — your name and phone number provided during registration
• Location data — real-time GPS location during active trips to match you with nearby drivers and calculate routes
• Trip data — pick-up and drop-off locations, trip duration, distance, and fare information
• Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for compatibility and support purposes
• Communication data — OTP codes sent to your phone number for authentication
• Payment data — transaction records for trips taken (we do not store card details)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

• Verify your identity and create your account via OTP authentication
• Match you with available drivers in your area
• Calculate fares and process trip payments
• Provide customer support and resolve disputes
• Send trip confirmations, receipts, and service notifications
• Improve our platform through anonymised usage analytics
• Comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations

4. Location Data

The Ijego app requires access to your device's location to function. Location is collected:

• During active trips — continuously, to track your journey and share with your driver
• When requesting a ride — to identify your pick-up point and nearby drivers

We do not collect your location when the app is closed or when you are not using the service. You can disable location access in your device settings, though this will prevent the app from functioning.

5. Sharing Your Information

We share your information only as necessary to provide our services:

• With drivers — your name, pick-up location, and destination are shared with your assigned driver to complete your trip
• With Termii — your phone number is shared with our SMS provider to deliver OTP verification codes
• With payment processors — transaction data is shared with our payment partners to process fares
• With authorities — we may disclose information if required by Nigerian law or in response to valid legal requests

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide our services. Trip records are retained for a minimum of 12 months for dispute resolution and regulatory compliance. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission, secure database storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the legal basis
• Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)

Ijego is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by SMS. Your continued use of Ijego after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
